Your left your left your left right, 1 guards, left right, GAC.
I completed my GAC 3 weeks ago. Quite lazy to blog though. Went through hell during the whole course.
Firstly we had 3 days of missions to fight. Including night missions which we can't see a single shit. After the tiring 3 days in tekong, we finally completed the missions and were ready to start with GAC. Anyway GAC is a process that transforms normal infantry soldiers into guardsmen. Some tradition since dunno when.
So it all started. We had to walk around 3-5km to different checkpoints and complete various tests, only after we pass then could we advance to the next test. We did it in Full battle order and the weight was killing my shoulders. And finally, we manage to complete the tests and were ready for the finale. 6 of us had to carry a stretcher with 2 filled jerry cans, which total probably weigh about 65kg. So 4 person would carry it and the other 2 would stand by to rotate. It was terrible, we walked for 1 min and rest for 10 mins. Haha. We couldn't stand the load as we were already shagged out by everything the pass 3 days. We had to walk 4km with the stupid stretcher to BMTC school 2 SOC ground.
That was our last stretch and we went all out. We had to complete the reverse SOC. Which means starting from the low ramp, in full battle order with the stretcher. We were not suppose to allow the stretcher to touch the ground at anytime. We also couldn't pass our rifles to someone else to hold.
Finally it ended. We took around 9 n a half hours to complete the whole process. We survived on sweets, limited water and cigarettes. We threw most of our food away cause it was too heavy.
So we had our dinner and finally a change of clothes. In our mind, we knew it wasn't totally over yet. We knew they were lying to us when they said that buses were coming to pick us up back to camp. So the next morning, we took the ferry from tekong to singapore. So they lied that the bus had broken down and we had to walk our way back to camp. We were already mentally prepared though. So they made us walk to east coast park instead of back to our camp. We walked from singapore ferry terminal at changi to east coast park, around 16-18km with passerbys giving us wierd stares. The road at changi airport was scary. It didn't seem to end after walking for over 2 hours. I could still see planes taking off.
Now that we reached east coast park, we rested for awhile before they suggest doing some exercise at the beach. So they made us walk into the sea to make ourselfs wet, before they made us do various exercises like jumping jacks, push ups. Then, they made us crawl on the beach and shouted at us making us wanna give up. the made us roll from the shore to the pavement, when everone stood up, our heads were already spinning around. After 1 hour of the ordeal, it was over. With water and sand all over our body, we walked back to camp, ready for our graduation. Our parents and friends soon arrive and we were ready for the parade. Finally, it has ended and we're Guardsmen.
